MEDICAL WASTE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT S.A. in cooperation with the Hellenic Mediterranean University (EL.ME.PA), the Technical University of Crete and the University of the Aegean had the honour to present, on Friday 07.04. 2023, the project DIANYA: “On-site Integrated Hospital Liquid Waste Management” in the framework of the action RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE, which is co-funded by the European Union and national resources through the ERDF. Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPANEK) (project code: T2EDK-02905) to representatives of institutions, students, hospital employees and other interested public the pilot unit for the treatment of hospital wastewater, which has been installed at the Venizelio General Hospital of Heraklion.Specifically, an on-site demonstration of the pilot unit with a capacity of at least 2m3/d was carried out. The pilot plant consists of a moving bed anaerobic bioreactor, a membrane bioreactor, an advanced oxidation unit using UV and H202, as well as a chlorination unit.
The tour and demonstration of the unit was attended by several representatives of institutions, academic and research staff and hospital employees.
